Harajuku Night! Dress Up Night!

(July 25, 2009)

Harajuku!

Following the success of the grand launch night Criminal Records newest club residency HARAJUKU! and numerous great follow-on events, Harajuku! is back at the The Purple Turtle, on Saturday 29th August Themed on Tokyo’s street fashion mecca, it celebrates all things Japanese.

Harajuku is known for it's bright colours and flamboyant dressers!!

While many goers are dressed up as characters from Anime, Movie or Manga, others are dressed in Gothica or as Lolita. It is really a crazily fun place. Harajuku fashion is all about being creative and mixing together different styles and influences, and has proved to be incredibly popular internationally. This is a great chance for everyone in London to escape to Japan!

Club Harajuku is a great place for free expression and to showcase your creative talents, the competition for the best dressed party goer is fierce! Many of Saturday's goers will be dressed up as characters from Anime, Movie or Manga, others are dressed in Gothica or as Lolita.

So, while Japan is really big for its live music, Harajuku! takes it all one step further. There is a selection of cherry picked bands from 7.30pm until 11pm, and then DJs until 3am. It's not a school night either, so there's even more reason to make it a large one!! Anything goes and make it crazy!!

So far there are some great acts on the bill including 'Sinner In The Mirror', who many of us saw play at Blag Club a few months ago! These guys (and girl) are a great new band! Plus 'Anime' band - Total Maverick Decadence - who happily played on the launch of Harajuku back in January. Also on the bill are DJ Daztronik, Rascal van Russ and special guests playing the best Indie, Rock, Jpop and even a bit of trance in the last hour. Party with us until 3am!!

Featuring live performances from:

Awkward Arm

Born out of the recesses of Abbey Road studios in late 2008,  Awkward Arm are set to light up the live scene in the capital with their high energy live show and infective brand of hard hitting indie rock grooves. Catch this exciting new band before they explode.

Hopeless Heroic

Hopeless Heroic are one hot five piece Metal/Rock band.   Their heavy and melodic sound is contageous and their recent EP is a big recommendation!   Go grab it now!!   The icing on the cake here is from the violin... This is definitely a band not to be missed!!

Capelle

It’s only been 18 months since Capelle first burst onto the UK music scene at O2 Undiscovered, and a lot has changed. They are four piece band from London, with a real spirits of rock!! Definitely band not to be missed!!

Kitayah

Kitayah’s debut album infuses rock and acoustic material and features performances from Newton Faulkner, Pete Friesen and Pete Riley. Kitayah is an excellent front woman, and has made a career on both sides of the Atlantic in Los Angeles USA and signed to EMI.
