The next Bizarre LIVE! club night is going to take place on Thursday
23 July in The Purple Turtle in Camden Town, London. And it’s going
to be a monster!
Headlining the show will be one of Bizarre’s favourite live acts, the
magnificent Maleficent. The London-based freaks are led by
Maleficent Martini and Mortimer Cain, whose agonising double vocals
feel like a frenetic battle between the powers of good and evil, set
to a backdrop of synth-driven industrial, progressive metal and sleazy
rock’n’roll. You won’t believe your ears!
Opening the show will be one-man electronic nutjob Kid Carpet. When
we last interviewed Kid Carpet, he said his music is "a bit like punk,
a bit like disco and sorta like hip-hop, but I do it all with kids’
plastic toys, telephones, keyboards, Furbys, and anything else that
makes a noise". How could you resist?
The show will also feature a couple of star turns from the delectable
Missy Malone, who was one of our favourite performers at the first
Bizarre Ball in 2008. And, as if that wasn’t enough, the whole shebang
will be presented by Bizarre’s* Alix Fox*, with a guest appearance by
the evil Dr Blackthorn. It’s the show of the century!
